You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

American Literature has been going pretty well for me. We have read a lot of poems and stories, and done creative projects such as creating our own origin myth and creating a heart diagram to represent a Dickinson poem. I have kept up with my family Blog posts and have finished them during class most of the time. It does help that this class is very long due to it being the lunch period, because I can get all of my work done in class without homework.

Today in class we read 3 Dickinson poems and started our soundtrack project.

I learned about how to connect poems to real life and identify a theme.

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?
