If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

If I had to write a poem about my life, it would be about wanting it to be summertime. I would write about how exciting and freeing summertime is and include all the fun activities I do. I would comment on how much I dislike school and write how it is draining and tiring. I end the poem speaking about how summer comes every year, but it feels like it will never come. In class, we took notes and did a Commonlit. I learned about how to write a rhetorical analysis thesis.

When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

One strategy that I use to change my mood is going on a walk. I like to listen to music and go on a long walk to clear my mind nd improve my mood. I also like to craft. I will paint or draw by myself in my room or outside to distract myself and give myself time alone in peace. Finally, I go outside to improve my mood. Going out and taking deep breaths helps me ground myself.  In class, we did a Newsela. I learned about ice and its structure.

Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

My personal approach to creativity is to take inspiration from Pinterest and change it up or use it to spark up other ideas. When working on a project, I usually start by planning how I want to do each step of the process. I then begin working on it in big bursts, listening to music. I take breaks when I need them and double-check my work. A project I created that I am proud of is when I designed and created a contraption to protect an egg being thrown off a building.  In class, we did a Writeable assignment. I learned new words like  lionize and  recalcitrant.

After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

I find antithesis the most compelling because it is really cool to see contrasting ideas work together in the same sentence. I've never used it, but many historical speeches have, and now I can recognize when it is used. I also think it's a great way to get the audience to think about a certain subject. In class, we took a quiz on rhetorical devices. I learned how to identify different devices in a text and how to use them efficiently.

Prompt: Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

The word cerebral resonates with me personally. I remember my dad teaching me this word years ago because he wanted to make sure I had a broad vocabulary for the SAT. Every day, he would teach me a new word and quiz me on previous ones, and I remember how important it was for him to be able to educate me the best he could. In class, we did vocabulary lesson 7. I learned new words like lurid and churlish.

Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

I didn't feel like myself when I was sick for two months. I had an illness that gave me. aterrible sore throat and was exhausted for two months over the summer. I had to miss two vacations and trips with my friends. I didn't feel like myself because I was so irritable and sad all of the time, and I could barely get up to eat or anything. It took me two months to get over it, and my whole summer had been wasted. In class, we analyzed the "I Have a Dream" speech. I learned how to identify ethos and find credibility.

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

I feel the most at peace in my bedroom in my bed. My bedroom has lots of sunlight and big windows, and I have a big bed with lots of blankets. The bed is very comfortable and relaxing, so it brings me peace to lie down in it. There are no other people in there besides me, so I get to be myself and do what I want to do. In class, we learned 3 new rhetorical devices. I learned the difference between a simile and an analogy.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

I had to rely on my partner to complete a group project. We had a biology presentation due for our final exam in 9th grade, and I had done all of my assigned parts of the slide presentation. My partner said that he would complete his part before it was due, but he ended up not finishing it, so I had to do it last minute. I relied on him to finish the project for us, but he let me down. This made me very angry with him, and now I don't trust many people with whom I work on group projects.  In class, we went over three new rhetorical devices. I learned how distinctio works, and I learned how to write one.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

In high school, I learned how to manage my time. This is important for after high school for going on to higher education and then in work life, as I will be faced with many tasks and challenges to complete. I also have learned how to absorb information and study facts. This is needed to do in college and grad school, as well as in a new workplace. Both of these skills are necessary for my success after high school in college and in my career. Today, we analyzed a speech from President Trump. I learned how to find different parts of rhetoric in speeches.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

I took a hiatus from volleyball in 9th grade. I was doing badly in one of my classes because all of my time was being spent at volleyball practices, games, and tournaments. Because I was doing badly in the class, I decided to stop playing for a little bit to get my grades up and to relax a little bit. It impacted me by allowing me time to adjust and prepare for the next season, and I learned how to better manage my time.  In class, we learned 3 new rhetorical devices. I learned that a rhetorical question can be answered with yes or no.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Today's lesson was not easy. It was a little confusing to me, it took me all class and all my brainpower. The class lasted for an eternity.  In class, we learned 3 new types of rhetorical devices. I learned how to identify and create hyperboles, understatements, and litotes.

In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

I spent most of my holiday break with my family and friends, engaging in various activities that bonded us strongly together, such as playing games and going out together. I also spent time with my new kittens, who were very excited and interesting, adding a new adventure to my daily life. T he first goal that I want to achieve this year is to qualify for the national competition for beach volleyball.   This is important to me  to demonstrate  my abilities and to prove to myself how much better I have become.   To accomplish this goal, I will continue attending my practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays and  participating  in other training competitions throughout the year. I plan to win at least one qualifying competition by July, when the national championship  is held .
