Reflect on your reading of Into the Wild chapters 1–10. Which chapter stood out to you the most, and why? In your response, explain what specifically made this chapter meaningful, interesting, or impactful. You may consider elements such as McCandless’s actions, a key event, a theme, or Krakauer’s storytelling.

Chapter 6 stood out the most to me. The whole chapter being about the relationship between Franz and McCandless was very sweet but sad to me. I like how we got to see a more human side of Chris, and we were able to see how he connects to people. one part that stood out was how Franz got attached to Chris in only a few weeks, which really showed how Chris was able to connect deeply to others, despite how he acted in the beginning chapters. Other than that, I was very touched when Franz had asked Chris to adopt him, and it made me so sad when Chris had to leave him.

In class, we took our test on chapters 1-10.

I learned about through-hikes and what to do when a black bear charges at me.

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?
